Lots of changes in my life

A lot of people following me here know me through PetsitUSA, which I founded in 2003. As the face behind PetsitUSA for the past ten years I’ve met some wonderful people, learned a heck of a lot about the pet sitting business, and I’ve had fun along the way. But, as many of you already know, I sold the website recently.

I’m still helping the new owner out, but it’s a little strange not having to do some of the daily tasks I’ve been doing for so long. Very strange in fact. A few times I’ve caught myself with a bit of a knot in the my stomach thinking I forgot to do this or that. Then I realize it’s not mine to do anymore. And seeing someone else post on the PetsitUSA Facebook page as PetsitUSA – that’s really strange! I’ve been the only one from PetsitUSA posting on there ever…until now.

People have asked if I was sad about selling PetsitUSA. I’ll admit it was a little bittersweet, but it’s a pretty awesome feeling to take an idea, turn into a successful business, and then sell it to someone who sees the value in it. Now, I’m looking forward to seeing how it develops under someone else’s care.

I’m really excited about some of the things I’ll be doing with the time I’ve freed up. I’ll be working more closely with pet sitters and other business owners to help develop their online presence. And The Pet Sitter Store is a little project of mine that I want to develop. It’s where pet sitters can find all sorts of things to use in their business – business forms, clothing, pet products, books…you name it. And, I’m also now a distributor for LifeVantage – they sell a supplement called Protandim. It’s for people and pets. I’ve been giving it to Archie since February and it’s done wonders for him. Seeing what it has done for him is why I decided to become a distributor. I’ll be writing more about that soon.

This past year has been full of changes for me. In the past 12 months I sold a house, moved across country, bought a new (to me) house, and sold a business. Phew! It’s been a great year though, and I’m looking forward to more adventures to come!

It’s always a little bittersweet looking back at selling a business. Sometimes it feels great because it was business you were ready to get out of. It was sucking all your time. Other times you look back at what a good business it was and wonder what if……?

Good luck on your future endeavors.
